Are you getting the error message “Failed to enable Spotify Social” when using your Spotify desktop app?

Due to recent and ongoing changes to Facebook, I’ve decided to pare down my use of Facebook and disable many of the features – one included the posting of my Spotify listening to the Facebook profile. After doing so, I started receiving a “Failed to enable Spotify Social” red message at the top of my desktop app. Well, there’s seems to be a hidden trick to get rid of the message.

1. Open Spotify
2. Go to Preferences
3. Go down to the Social Network heading and select the “Connect to Facebook” button
4. Then select “cancel” when the Facebook window is displayed.

The message should then disappear.
